Lake Charles Airport

After hurricane Katrina destroyed the Lake Charles Airport in 2007, Jacobs Carter & Burgess was hired to design a replacement facility. The architects invited Interior Design Group to team with them. Instead of duplicating the standard modern state-of-the-art airport, the client asked the designers to interject a Louisiana theme. The ubiquitous state flower, the Iris, was incorporated into the relief wall panels. Iconic lanterns replaced fluorescent troffers and classical motifs were integrated into the terrazzo flooring. The restaurant and cocktail lounge were designed to mimic the festive mood of Mardi Gras.
